Co-Opted Governor

Occupation: Chief Operating Officer

Role on the Governing Board: Co-Opted Governor

Governor Appointment Date: 06/11/2017.

I am a parent of two children who attended Carleton Green and I work as a leader in education locally in business support. I am also a HR professional and have a good understanding of how schools operate, particularly around people, policies and the importance of creating a positive and supportive working environment. Being both a parent and someone who works in education has given me a strong interest in the school’s long‑term success and in making sure decisions made at a strategic level have a positive impact on pupils and staff.

Why I became a Governor: I became a governor because I care about the school and wanted to use my experience to give something back. I was keen to get involved in helping to:
- Support the school’s overall direction and long‑term priorities
- Work with the school on wellbeing strategies for students and staff
- Make sure decisions are made in the best interests of all pupils in order to create the very best environment for our young people to thrive.

What I bring to the board:
- Experience of working in education
- A HR background, including knowledge of people management, policies and staff wellbeing alongside experience of good estates management and technical support
- The ability to look at issues from both a professional and a parent point of view
- A willingness to listen, ask questions and contribute positively as part of a team
My HR experience also helps me appreciate the challenges schools face around recruitment, retention and workload, and the importance of taking a long‑term, sustainable approach.

Role on the Governing Board: Co-opted Governor

Governor Appointment Date: 09/09/2021

I am a Compliance Manager with a strong focus on governance, accountability, and continuous improvement. I joined the governing board at Carleton Green in September 2021, initially as a Parent Governor, and in 2025 I was proud to be invited by the board to continue my service as a Co-opted Governor.

My connection with the school spans decades—I was a pupil when the school first opened in the 1970s, followed by my brothers and later my own children. This long-standing relationship has given me a deep understanding of the school community and a genuine commitment to its success.
