On the 4th and 5th Januray, Herons class studied a local artist called Alistair Parker. The children learnt a lot about him as an artist and then in particular studying his pieces of artwork that were based around our local area Blackpool. The children were very excited when they found out he was coming to visit. They asked him lots of questions and were able to show him their version of his piece 'Blackpool Rock'.

First we had to glue the paper plate then we put the Blackpool rock on the plate making two circles. The plates looked colourful and pink. We also scrunched up colourful tissue paper and glued it to the paper plates. I enjoyed seeing everyone's paper plates when they finished making them. I think everyone enjoyed doing it.

I liked Alistair Parker’s artwork, especially Jungle King and Blackpool Bag! I thought Alistair Parker was 44 but he is really 76! My Auntie Natalie is an artist, she mostly paints highland cows, sheep and flowers!
