This week the Ducklings started their Road Safety training. The topics we have learned about are "Other People" and "Safer Places".

During "Other People" we learned about the names for; the pavement, kerb and road. We discussed where was safe to walk and how we must ALWAYS hold another persons hand. We also talked about walking on the left so they as far from the road as they can possibly be. The children also talked about holding onto bags, prams and coats if a hand was not available and that sometimes it isn't always possible to walk on the inside.

During "Safer Places" we learned about NOT walking throught the school carpark but to use the paths, to stop at driveways to check that there are no cars or the cars are not moving. We also talked about different vehicles that use the roads and the difference between quiet and busy roads. As we were walking we also discussed safe places to play; parks, gardens and that grass verges were not the safest.

Austin did some great writing all about it when we came back into class. In fact it was so good Mrs. McGrath awarded him a Headteachers sticker.

Tobias and Sienna had some excellent ideas and were brilliant at telling us everything they knew.

Look at our pictures in the gallery here.
